About Registered Programs

This section of CUNY TIPPS provides information on both the undergraduate and graduate academic programs offered at the City University of New York. The programs listed here are those officially registered by the New York State Education Department and their titles are those approved by the State Education Department.

What is a Registered Program?

In a majority of cases, these programs are the same as “majors.” However, options within registered programs, such as “Creative Writing,” offered within a college's registered program in English, will not appear. For these options, should they exist, and for other information about the registered programs, we have provided links to the colleges' websites.

Accessing Registered Academic Programs

The screen entitled Registered Academic Programs Offered At CUNY has three pull down menus. For all menus, you may select either one entry or “All.”

Education Programs

While most education programs lead to certification by the State of New York, not all do. Therefore, it is very important to look at the column entitled Education Certification to determine if the program you are looking at is one that leads to State certification.

Programs with Bracketed [ ] Information

Many academic programs are offered in a joint relationship between two colleges. Information presented in brackets indicates the aspects of the program which are offered by the second of the two colleges.

Sorting Information

The registered program information can be displayed in three ways: sorted by college, by degree or by program. To change the sort, use the sort selection function which appears both at the beginning and at the end of the list of programs. Click on the way you want it to appear; the information will be sorted for you.

Disclaimer

Every reasonable effort is made to keep the registered program information in CUNY TIPPS accurate and up-to-date. Neither the individual colleges nor the CUNY Central Administration can be held liable for errors in or omissions from this on-line service.
